The mission of the Upper Colorado River Authority, acting within the parameters of its charter, is to enhance the water quality of the streams and tributaries located within the watershed of the Upper Colorado River Authority.
Improving Water Quality for the Colorado River Basin
In 2013 the Upper Colorado River Authority (UCRA) was tasked by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to update the TMDL Implementation Plan (I Plan) for river segment 1426, the segment of the Colorado River between EV Spence and OH Ivie reservoir.
The goal of the UCRA has been to support the evaluation and revision (as appropriate) of the TMDL I Plan for total dissolved solids (TDS) and chlorides in the Colorado River below Spence. UCRA's role has been to facilitate and coordinate public participation in the review and revision process. Final revisions were completed and submitted to TCEQ in April 2014 and are still under agency review.
